What do you think about FBI check ?

have posted this question in my previous thread, but as nobody seemed to answer it I will post it seperately. I wanted to know what the the FBI check depends on i.e. how many countries you've lived in the past 5 years or your nationality?

If the FBI check depends on how many countries you have resided in the past 5 years than it will take forever. I did an awfull lot of traveling and residing. Should I try and get it from the Embassies of the Countries I lived in to make it faster incase there is a delay?I am refering to criminal clearances/ police clearance/certificate of conduct...which ever fits the bill.

Please let me know so that I can get a move on this ASAP at the embassies/consulates.
