We got married after we both had filed our taxes separately. We are about to file our paperwork. I am the overstay and he is a USC. If we get an interview before next tax season, would they require the joint tax returns? we have everything else like health and life insurance together.

Tax Returns
I don't think they need to see a joint tax return if you only married recently. I think they just want to make sure current tax returns are being or have been filed. The I-485 initial interview required us to bring 3 years of tax returns - last year we filed together, the previous year we filed together but my wife used her maiden name and for the preceding year we filed separately. For the initial pack we sent to the USCIS with the application, we just sent copies of the most recent year (2006).
