  • Security Check taking forever

Hi guys I need some advice. I'm from Brazil and got married with a US citizen in july of 2006. I started my process for adjustment of status in September(my invoice is dated of September 19). Here's the problem. Everything was going fine untill the interview, which was on December 14. However, at the time of the interview the immigration officer told me she couldn't approve my case because my security background wasn't done yet. So I didn't receive a stamp on my passport. Well, since I had got my EAD already I didn't worried so much, but, she said it could take upt to 90 days to be done, and has passed already over 120 days and I don't have any answer from them. Every time I call them or go to the DHS office, they tell me something different. Despites their rudeness of service, they also doesn't give any accurate information. I heard already that could take 1, 2 or even 4 years for that(???). And what caught even more my attetion is, I have friends that came over to the USA, overstayed their VISA limit, got married after me, started the process after me, and they got everything done already and have their Card. I don't really understand this part, special when the USCIS is really clear on the website when they say they process cases in order of arrival. Where are those standards that I'm not seeing at all? I'm feeling totally discriminated. Can somebody give me any advice? I don't know what else to do.

I am from Brazil too! And my security paperwork is also taking longer than normal. Did you receive any RFE regarding you AOS?

hey, Im from argentina, I had the same issue, got married november 2006, had my interview june and the same thing, my name check wasn't ready. last week I got the 485 approval notice and I think it is related to the new rule that if your case is in the name check for more than 180 days, they'll approve you! give it some more weeks and see. I know a guy from iran that got married in 2002 and just got it last month, we think it is because that rule but who knows... the only thing we know for sure is that MARADONA IS AND WAS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD
        hope youll get it soon!
