Fiance Visa What Next?

I am a US citizen. My fiance's visa should be approved very shortly and she will be coming to the USA immediately after receiving her visa. What steps are required after she arrives? I know marriage within 90 days, that is OK. DO we file the I-485 form? We have zero children, she will be a house wife and raisign our children as they come along. I just want to follow the steps as quickly as possible as we want to get this behind us as quickly as possible. Thank you for your help. I must add, the legal process is so extensive and expensive. How do folks of lesser means and conviction get through this. All are in our prayers.

Plan the adjustment of status (AOS)

After to marry you should make every effort to get the Adjustment application filed within 90 days of the fiance(e) entering the United States, which is when the K-1 status expires, as indicated on the I-94. Your legal status as a K1 expires after 90 days, married or not. The only way to protect your legal status is to apply for Adjustment of Status, and the only way to maintain continuous legal status is to file for AOS before the K1 visa expires. On the practical side, it is often difficult to arrange for the marriage, and get all the paperwork ready in time to file for AOS within 90 days then be diligent to get it ready!
