K3/AOS/Visa Expire/I-94

My wife is here on K3 visa & I'm filing the AOS for her now in June-2007. Her K3 visa will expire in April-2008 & when she entered the country in Jan-2007, the immigration officer stamped Jan-2009 on her I-94.
Does that mean, her status will remain legal after her K3 visa expire because of Jan-2009 date on her I-94?

I'll appreciate any help!

As soon as she files for AOS, her status is legal anyway, regardless of the dates in the passport or on the I-94.

AOS gives her a legal "status pending" until a decision is made (= the Greencard is issued).

As far as I know, the only time the dates on the I-94/vsa might be important is, if her Greencard doesn't arrive before the expiration and she wants to travel out of the country and come back.
