Hi,
My wife's place of birth on passport has one character misspelt.
On passport it is "Jadcherpa". But on the birth certificate it is "Jadcherla" (which is the correct name of the town and also the name we will be putting on the affidavits from her parents).
I wanted to know if this will be an issue. Getting the passport place of birth corrected seems to be a really long winded process. If done in US, it requires a court order which may take months. Doing it in India, also may take sometime (and will require her to travel to India, stay there till it is done, come back and then apply for I-485).
I wanted to know if keeping this discrepancy is ok, esp, because the birth certificate is the primary evidence for place of birth. On the forms for I-485 we will be filling the Jadcherla as her place of birth.
Thanks
