  • Medical Test

Yesterday we went for a Medical Exam. They did the following

    1. Tet**** Shot
    2. Blood test
    3. TB Skin test

and they asked us to come in 3 days to get the results. Dr said if there is a positive result for TB then X-ray is needed. When i asked about Vaccinations, the Dr said only Tet**** Shot is needed and the rest of them are all not necessary these days. Is this true ? They also charged only 180 $ total( which is far less than other drs in my area)..

Do i need any other Vaccinations ??

USCIS lists these Vaccinations as necessary -
mumps, measles, rubella, polio, tet**** and diphtheria toxoids, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type b, and hepatitis B

Any one can u help me understand this please.

I had same tests. They charged me 450$. I have a follow up appointment
tomorrow. I am not sure either if we need any more vaccinations. Will wait
for the answer from Senior members. Please let me know if you hear any updates.

    Thanks in advance,
    Zavid

Dont let the doctors take you for a ride. Get a letter from your family doctor in your home country that you have received all possible immunizations. The entire medical exam should not cost more than $150.

I think it depends on your past medical history and your age. For example, if you got Chickenpox in the past you don't need Varicella vaccination. Also, if you have already taken any of these vaccinations in the past (if the doctor is convinced with the proof you provided), then he may not ask you to take the vaccination.

In my case doctor advised me to take MMR, Td and Varicella. For other vaccinations he marked "Not appropriate age" in the "SUPPLIMENTAL FORM TO I 693"

Though the report goes in the sealed cover, you will get a copy of I 693 and "SUPPLIMENTAL FORM TO I 693".

Here is the link for forms. You must have filled these forms with your name, DOB, passport details when you go for the test. Doctor fills the rest of the stuff.
