Travel when filing for 485

We are filing a I-485 pretty soon. Meanwhile, we have booked a cruise to Alaska on September first week. We will not receive the AP by then. The cruise departs from Seattle and does dock at one Canadian port. Question is will our I-94 taken at Seattle when we depart and will we receive a new one? Is it better if we cancel the cruise?

I believe you will keep same I-94.

Any idea who could be able to help me regarding this? I have called the cruise line and they are not clear... am totally confused and I really want to go for the trip

Has your visa stamp expired on your passport? If not, then you do not need to worry. even if they take your I-94 while departing, they will issue a new I-94 when you get back on the same visa. Applying I-485, EAD and AP makes no difference unless you plan on using the EAD.

No the visa are not expired. I have a valid F1 while my husband has a valid H1-B.

Hello,
As per my knowledge the I-94 information you have entered while submitting your application should match to the new one,(when u re-enter u will have a new I-94 which do not match).
But if u get the recepit before u leave the country then its well nd good,u don't have to worry, still u ask ur lawyer about this before leaving.

The I-94 information does not matter. so dont worry about that.

The only issue is the receipt of I-485 there is no agreement as to travel before receiving the receipt is valid or not.

If you both have vaild Visas, and you aren't in too much of a rush, is it a possibility to wait until you get back from your cruise then apply for the I485?
