  • got married while I-485 pending

I got married while my I-485 application is pending (through labor certification). My wife is also going to apply for green card now. She is in US on F1 visa. A few related questions.
    - Is there any supplementary form to file along her I-485 which indicates that we want to append her I-485 to my application?
    - Will her application be considered as new and therefore be in the category that have deadline of Aug. 17? Or it will be just a part of my application?
    - Is my own application changed and should I file a form for that? Particularly, how to change my marital status in the application?
    - Since we will have it changed to a joint application would it affect on the timing of approval of my I-485?
    Thanks.

Sorry, I'm not understanding too well. How are you expecting to apply for her if you are not a permanent resident or a US citizen? Are you filing an employment based green card application or a family based? If she's on an F-1, she is merely a student here.

I think a little more info would help.

since your I-485 is still pending you should apply for her as soon as possible because she will have to wait a long time if yours gets approved.

Hers will be a new I-485 including a copy of your I-485 recept and other documents. In the current scenario her application will have to reach USCIS before Aug 17 as after that there can be no filing unless your PD becomes current.

Since hers will be a derivative I-485 her PD is your PD.

I think based on your questions and inexperience you might want to get a lawyer asap.
