  • aos interview today marriage based.

My wife and I had her aos interview today in Newark. We arrived early for our 1:30 interview. Our attorney arrived at 1:40 and handed in our paperwork. Within 45 minutes we were called by our immigration officer. He was a nice guy and very professional. He swore us in and then looked at our financial papers (insurance, bank accounts, utilities and our wedding contract with our caterer, he commented that we had quite a menu) After this he asked my wife some questions. The first one was "has your husband ever been married before?" She didn't understand the question and said "yes" (i've never been married before!) he asked my wife again and she chuckled since she realised she answered incorrectly and smiling said "no". he asked her about my schooling, the names of my parents and where they live, where do i work, what is my position and what kind of car i drive. After this he asked if we had any pictures to show him and he looked at one of 3 albums we brought. My wife offered the second album after he viewed the first one but declined. After this he did some work on the computer and printed something out and then said "I am approving you case". We thanked him and were on our way.

All in all, a very painless process. Also a lot of worrying for nothing. These officers are there to help you and as long as your honest and truthful you have nothing to worry about.

Congrats! Our interview will also be in Newark (whenever we get it!) so it's good to know you had a positive experience.

Hi, I have a question. If I only have a marriage certificate to be shown in the AOS interview, would it be enough? Cause we do not have plan to have wedding party right now. But we probably have the party in the future.
Is the immigration officer going to reject because of this?

          Yes

Most likely you will be rejected. Unless you can prove a bona fide marriage.
