Filing 1-485 being in India?

My question is can I apply for 1-485 being in India? My labor is approved & I'm currently on an off-shore project & can't come back to US before the Aug 17,2007 deadline to file my adjustment of status.

nope you cannot, you have to be in status to apply for adjustment of status since you are abroad then you dont have a status in the USA.
