    Advance parole to travel

No, you cannot travel until u received your approval for advance parole. If u leave the country now, your application will suffer. Please try not to, advance parole takes between 30-60 days. Good luck

I heard that you can always travel when you maintain H-1 status . As I want to maintain H1-B staus.

Definitely you can travel as long you have a valid H-1B stamp. You dont need advanced parole. Please check the Green Card section of Immihelp where it clearly explains the policy. I also double checked this with the INS web site.
