travel after filing 485

I have a valid H1 visa stamped. I filed for 485 and want to travel.
I have filed for AP also but want to use my current H1 visa for travel now.

Do i need the 485 receipt notice before travel ?

By law you need it, but it is an issue still being worked out so unless you need to travel urgently dont do it.

I just file for my AOS 485 on June 28th, 2007. Before I travel, I just email my lawyer and ask if it's ok. She said fine. As long as you have a valid H1-B visa stamp on your password with M-reentry stamp on it.

I went on a trip and just got back about a week ago. I didn't have any problem with it.
