    Hi,

My green card is being processed on my husband's employment(EB3). Unfortunately we are getting a divorce which will be finalized this month end. I am working based on the EAD. I-485 is still pending but the fingerprints are done. I am confused as to what will happen once the divorce is finalized. Please advise. Should i stop working the day i am divorced? Will i have be asked to leave US? My EAD is valid thru Novemeber 2007 but i am told it will lose its validity the day i am divorced. It sounds bad to ask at this point but i am in a serious relationship now and can i remarry in US immediately this divorce is finalized? If so how soon? Please advise. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

You would loose your EAD, I-485 and legal status in US the day you get divorced.

You can get remarried the next day and if your new spouse is US citizen, he can file greencard for that same day. Read https://www.immihelp.com/family-based-greencard/persons-in-us.html

Thank you so very much for the valuable information. Can you please also tell...

Do i have to leave the country the day i loose my legal status?

Would INS send me some notice asking me leave by certain date or is it just expected of me to leave US the day i get divorced?

      Very Sincerely,
