  • Had our AoS interview 2 days ago.

Hi, I would like to share my AoS interview experience with you guys and hopefully someone can tell me what they think about it.

Our appointment was at 8:00 am. We arrived at 7:30. Went inside, went through the metal detections then sat and waited. At about 8:00 am, our lawyer came and we had a little chat about our files. At 8:15 am, we were called in. The officer seem really nice. He sat us down swore us in and then started talking to my lawyer about other issues. (not relating to my case whatsoever) Then he asked about my Canadian citizenship card, and how I only used that to enter the US. After that, my lawyer and him started chatting again. Then he asked if me and my wife live together alone. I told him we live with my father. He then looked at our photos and joked about some photos. He said we had all our informations except my arrest files. He needed more files related to that. So he asked if we could go to the court and retrieve it and come back. At around 8:40am, we left the building.
So my lawyer called his secretary to go pick up the files from the court. At around 10:30 am, the secretary met us at the office and gave us the files. We went back inside and submitted the files. About 15 minutes later our officer came back out and called us over. We were standing by the door and he said "I don't want to keep you guys waiting", while he was looking at the files we just submitted. Then he said everything's here and then his last words were "I'll get it to you in the mail". And that was it. We headed out once again with very confused looks on our faces.

Overall, the interview was NOTHING like we expected. I think he asked ONE question about our relationship. The officer spent most his time chatting with my lawyer and typing on the computer.

So now I'm wondering....where do we stand from here. Does everything look ok? Please comment.

Let me also add. We checked online for our case. For the I-485 which is the AoS. It said "Card Production ordered". Does that mean it's approved? But then, our I-130 is still pending. I don't understand any of that. Please comment.

If you look below at my previous post and read "Confused" you will notice we had a similar interview. The only difference was we had to get the original birth certificate instead of your document. Please inform us on the outcome because we are sooooooooo nervous. thanx

Do you have an account online to check your status? Because we do, and that's how we know the status of our case, which is *Card Production Ordered*

Let me add, my case was NOT a walk in the park. I am a Canadian Citizen who came into the US 7 years ago. I have overstayed and returned back into Canada many times. I have committed a misdemeanor 3 years ago and was on probation for a year. Even after that, I have went back to Canada. I DO NOT have a passport either. But hey, I just got approved!!! All I can say is, if your marriage is bona fide, you got nothing to worry about! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

For how long did you overstay each time? Because if your did for more than 180 days... you were subject to a 3 year ban.

oh I overstayed over a year each time. Yes, I know about the 3-10 year ban for overstaying, but they have already approved me. Should I still be afraid? O.o They have already sent me a Welcome to United States letter.
