I guess since I have used this website a lot I guess its fair to share my story.
I came to the US in 2002 with a student visa (held a tourist visa too). Did my MBA but couldn't get an H1b visa. So by the time my EAD expired I went back home 2005, but I was very involved in a relationship. Flying back and forward both of us we decided to get married and filed for a K-1, even thou I had a valid B1/B2 visa that I used twice. We filed for the K-1 May 2006, got the approval on July 2006. By the time it was forwarded to the consulate and else...I was ready to come here by Oct 2006. Got married Nov 4 2006.
Filed concurrently for AOS, EAD and AP. The fingerprints were taken early JAN 2007
March 07 approved EAD and AP.
July 2007 GC approved without interview.
Learning for a smooth AOS
Do not overstay
Present your papers in a very organized manner specially proof of relationship
Put an index in the AOS package sent
