  • Can I adjust Status and keep staying in the U.S.?

    Dear Sirs/Madam,
My father is U.S. Citizen, and he helps me to apply Green Card in 2001 August 1st.I am over 21 Years Old. I am from Taiwan. At that time, I am studying in the U.S. as a F1 student. Right Now, the Date of the current Bulletin of waiting list is 2001 May 1st. However, my OPT is almost expired. My father already submitted the DS230 and it means my case already transfer to Taiwan (my country), and already been approved.
The only thing for me is just waiting till the Date of the bulletin to
August 1st 2001. However, the truth is that I am in U.S. now.
Is there any way that I can keep staying in the U.S.?
I heard that there a name called “adjust status”

Can I do something to adjust my status as a waiting list for Green and keep stay in the U.S. till I get the green Card?

    THX!

You can apply for adjustment of status only after your priority date is
current. Until then, you will need to be on some other nonimmigrant visa to be legally in the US.
