Last time I heard from my lawyer, ( a few days ago )
they're focusing on the family based immigration
    applications.

    My passport expires in December
and I'm still waiting for my I-485 approval.
    (RD 10/5/01, ND 11/23/01, FP 3/29/02)
If you have a recent approval from VSC,
    please post your RD.
Like everyone here, I am desperate to
know if they're making good progresses.

    One question:
What happens if my passport expires
when I get the I-485 approval?

Thanks and good luck to everyone.

    RE. VSC Processing

I have been tracking down VSC I-485 processing based on the RDs of my colleagues which I will call C1 and C2 here.

    C1 RD: 09/17/01
Approval: First week of October 2002

    C2 RD: 09/27/01
    Approval: Received RFP 10/15/2002

My RD is 10/09/2001, ND 11/23/2001, FP 01/31/2002
I estimated (hoping) that I will have my case processed by 10/28/2002.

    FYI

      Re: RE. VSC Processing

      Dear ARPRINCE,
Could you please post their NDs (notification dates)?

It seems that it's the ND that matters
      not the RD.
Well, that's what someone that I talked to
      heard from INS.

        Re: RE. VSC Processing

Hmmm....that's interesting to know. I was in the impression that processing was based on RD and not ND since AC21 is based on RD.

I have to look into this and check their NDs. That would throw off my date estimate on when my case would be processed. Bummer!

          Re: RE. VSC Processing

I did some research and postings but basically, I'm being pointed to the fact that "processing time" is based on the RECEIPT DATE.

Here's a link for VSC processing on another immigration website. On the right side of the headings in black, it states....
          "Now Processing Cases Receipted"

However, if you check the immihelp.com link to VSC processing time, the right side of the heading states...
"We are processing cases with receipt notice dates:"

It's kindda confusing to say receipt notice dates because it's pointing towards RD and ND and makes you wonder which one is really the basis.

However, here's an excerpt I got from AC21 Q&A that may point out that "receipt notice dates" is actually RD and not ND.

          **** *
Question 1 : Is it the receipt date or the notice date that governs the counting of the 180-day period under AC21? TOP

Based upon the wording of the law and the INS interpretation of AC21, the 180 days should be counted from the date the INS receives the filing at one of its Service Centers. This is not the notice date, which reflects the several days or weeks the INS takes to issue the Receipt Notice. The 180 days are calendar days, not business days.

Anyway, I do hope it is based on RD and not ND. That would put me back close to 2 months. With my employment future so unclear......Bummer!
