  • question for praetorianx1

    Hi
can anyone suggest what we should do.
This is my story, my husband and i moved into the same building in 2004, we were good friends, we started dating in 2005 and got married june 2007, he sumitted I130 and I485 for me before fee change on june 22nd 2007, had my fingerprints on july 22nd, recieved my EAD on september 13th 2007.
we had our AOS today at Garden city.
    My husband is USC white
Iam from trinidad of mixed race east indian and african.
do you follow me so far.
we got to the office around 8.31am as our interview was 9.30 am

we went through the scanners and haned the appointment letter to window 1 At around 8.51 am my name was called and we went to the 2nd floor to a waiting room.

its 9.21 am now and an east indian gentleman called my name and asked us to follow him, which we did to his office.
This is the sequence of events to follow.

He asked us to take an oath we did, then he asked can i see you wedding album, he looked at the first pictures and asked you from trinidad, i am from guyana, trinidadians have an air about them, he then asked for my passport, took out the I94 and looked at the photo in it, his remarks you dont look good in short hair, as my hair is long now, is that a wig, do you do your hair for yourself it looks so. his next question was to my husband, do you go to certain clubs which is in our area my husband and i replied yes to 2 of the clubs but one because of the food, his remarks is trinidadians dont know how to run anythis if it was a guyanese they would do it better. at this point my husband was aggitated, he asked what this has to do with our interview, his reply was, you should not even be studying food, as my husband is a big guy.
He followed this by asking do i work, i replied no, he asked again i said no, he said you can tell even if you worked off the books doing baby sitting in long island and manhattan, again, i said no, he asked again to which i replied my only job was taking care of my huband, he then asked my husband where does he work, my husband told him and he asked if anyone at his job knos he is married and he said everyone. His next statement was if you were pregnant i would have passed you, you have to come back again, at this time we thought he was kidding he said, give me any picture, let me see your joint bills, we handed him our phone , bill our lease shows that our gas, light and electric is included, he didnt want to see that,my husband had some prior account problems we had all the info as some had gotten credit on his name and we had the proof to show why we didnt open a bank account as yet, never asked for any of these, nor our insurance or anthing, all h said is that i will send you a notice when to return or do you want it now, we said now, my husband asked him, is this our interview are you serious about al those statements you made, why exactly do we have to return, his reply, "thats not our business and he does not have to answer to anyone" i could have lost my husband today, because i could have seen how red he became, his last statement to me was you look like you does have a good time.

My question has anyone ever had an experience like this, and what should we do

Sometimes you have "good" officers, sometimes you don't.

All you can do now is wait for a decision. Or you could write a very nice letter to the Supervisor of that District Office, detailing the interview experience and submitting all of the evidence that the officer did not take.

Just wait and see, nobody can predict this. Hopefully it will all work out well.

            Garden City Nightmare

Please wait till you get a response in the mail before you hurt yourself even more. I had my interview at garden city, i was denied initially for failing to submit evidence(which I did), i filed a motion and got a second interview, at he second interview in Jun 07 I was in tears as the things the officer said to my husband and I, I felt positive we were denied. He even went as far as telling me that I will hear from them and may have to file again no earlier than feb 08. Well I positioned myself to do just that.....I reapplied for a new ead card and instead of receiving it i got a congratulation letter that the i485 was approved in aug 08...please don't jump the gun and make an enemy of them in the event you must file a motion...you do not want it to be you against them....

                Important Question For Praetorian X1

You responded to my post in october 2007 even though i did not mention the entire experience, which i can do now which involved the sexual advances of the the said officer, i took the advice of the members here and i sent out a letter to the head of USCIS New York office detailing every thing we encountered duirng the interview which include also asking for my cell number and when my husband asked if he wanted his he said no he only needed mine. that was october 2007 we complained because we did not want anyone else to experience what we went through. Lo and behold in toadys New york Daily news papers page 31 the said officer was arrested for forcing another applicant by making her perform certain acts on him in december 2007 our complaint was sent to garden city office the day after our interview in sept 2007 and again to the new york federal plaza office in october 2007, had they followed up this predator would have been dealt with already. My question Praetorian X1 what should be our next move. as i said before we are due for 2nd interview in april 2008.

Make an infopass to your local District Office and ask.

Ask about your situation and what you should do? I do not think you need to "fight off" the interview, but you can surely speak with the Supervisor maybe? I would try not to create too much fuss... worst thing could be that your case (entirely) is put in revision and hold... because of that officer.
