  • green card approved but not received and flying abroad

My green card was approved 1 month ago but I have not received it yet. called Uscis and they say they can't do anything until exactly 30 days !
i am flying abroad in 5 days. so my lawyer recommended I-551 stamp in the passport. I have an infopass for that. My qustion is that; do they stamp your passport on the same day without any problems in such cases or they give you run arounds like they always do ???
of course I will take all my documents and copies with me to the appointment. I will even take my airline ticket with me.
it's an irony, I had a valid advance parole document which I cant use now as my green card is approved. I am going for my brothers wedding

They stamp it on the same day. Just explain the situation. Do you have any evidence of being approved though? an approval letter or anything like that? otherwise it may be hard for the officer to find your file and give you the stamp.

      thanks for the reply

yes i have original welcome letter. I will go fully prepared. my only concern was that they will not stamp on the same day as the infopass appointment is 10/19 and I am flying on 10/21 and I dont have time. thanks again. feel better now.

my AOS was approved july 17 and 90 have passed i havent recieved my green card. i had my infopass october 17 and they told me that my files was sent to the wrong service center and they have to retrieve all my files. all my documents will expire on nov 7. hope your case will be better than mine. they sent an alert letter to my service center and the immigration officer told me i should recieve a letter from them before oct 30, if not i have to get back for an infopass appt to see what they can do. goodluck on your case.

thanks, I did get the I-551 stamp today in the passport. They said that my green card was mailed 20 days ago but was returned back. the problem is that my lawyer in California moved her office to a different location and it went to their old address. Thats one drawback of processing thru a lawyer. things get lost, or even if received by the lawyer then comes to us via mail, so many delays and headaches.
But the immigration officer was very nice, he not only stamped my passport right away but also updated my address with USCIS and now my green card will come to my home address.
good luck to all of you..
