Interesting mail recieced today.

Hey everyone,

Today in the mail my wife and I each received mail from USCIS. The first letter addressed to my wife was a welcome to the US and you should expect your greencard in about 3 weeks message. The second letter addressed to me was a reciept for the I-130 form, In the letter it told me to submit the I-485 for my wife.

I am confused, my wifes I-485 has been approved, we had an interview, got her passport stamp and everything. Now she gets a letter letting her know that her greencard is on the way. I don't understand why I got a receipt notice, has this ever happened to anyone?

It is the standard message for the I-130 approval.

Most people file the I-130, wait for it to be approved and THEN file I-485 if they are in the USA or go through Consular Processing if they are outside of the USA.

Do not worry about it, your wife should have her GC in about 3 weeks.
