My I-485 is filed by my OLD company. This OLD com-pany went thru a lot of layoffs. It's hanging at the edge. What if it shuts down completely, can I transfer the I-485 that has been with INS for more than a year now to my new employer?
In addition, somebody told me that there is an issue that is currently being debated - i.e. should the sponsor (company) go out of business, the sponsored's (employee) I-485 will be nullified. This leaves only 1 option and that is to restart the greencard processing from scratch, back to step 1 with the new company. Going back to the above, can I-485 which has been with INS for more than a year be simply transferred to the new company?
Lots of thanks ... God bless ...
