  • Just married US Citizen while I-485 pending based on Asylum

I have been granted asylum in 2001 and my I-485 is still pending since 2002 based on Asylum.
I just got married to an US Citizen and would like to file another I-485 based on marriage.
Anybody has any input or had the same situation? Any help is greatly appreciated. You can also email [email protected]. Thanks a lot.

You can file for your GC based on marriage to an US Citizen. It will be faster. There is not a problem in you filing this way.

      PraetorianXI ,
My case is similar but my I-485 is pending based on employer (EB3).
If i file another GC based on marriage , should i pull off the one that is
pending now or i can leave both process at the same time and take whatever that approve first? Please advise.

      Thank you
      Sara

Leave them both, there is nothing wrong with having 2 petitions going on at the same time.

Lawyer indicted while I-485 pending based on asylum

My lawyer has been indicted and my I-485 based on asylum (which I have approval for) is now stuck "pending".
Meanwhile I got married and my husband is US Citizen. He will file a petition for me and I will file another I-845 based on marriage.
How will this affect my status? Do you have any input? Have you had any cases like this?
          Thanks.
