Question on I-485

Hello,
I have a question on I-485. I have filed long back for I-485 on my marriage base. Last year on Sep06, 2006 I and my spouse attended the green card interview. Everything went good, the INS even cleared my case, but they said at the end of the interview that due to the back logs going on FBI clearance, we have to keep your I-485 pending. They said that we will contact you within 2 months. It has been almost 14 months and no reply from INS. What should I do with this case? My wife is now citizen. They have even taken my I-94, as it is mandatory for INS to take away the I-94 at the time of interview. At the time when I start my immigration process around 2001, my wife was permanent resident. Now she is citizen of US.

You need to continue to follow up with them. No other choice.

Hello:

I believe it is the best to contact USCIS in person to inquire about your case and pending application which is long due. The sooner you do it, the better, and it is the best if you spend a little to hire some immigration attorney (just for one time visit to make an appointment with USCIS and go with you to clarify it) since for some reason it works a lot faster like that!

It looks like your paperwork could have got stuck somewhere and you need to find out and push it the proper way. Otherwise, in some cases you might wait and wait and wait!
