  • I-485 without Medical, Medical Expiry Date

    Hi,

I submitted my 485 during this Mad Rush of Jul-Aug 2007. I applied without Medical as this was allowed during this period.

Now I am waiting for RFE for Medical.

Can you do my Medical now or do I wait for RFE and then do the Medical.
Does Medical expires after 1 year ?

    Please F1

You either wait for RFE or interview letter.
You should have form I-693 (medical form) with your I-485 package. Depends on service center, some expect I-693 together with I-485 while some expect it at the time of the interview.
Anyway, if you have notice of action (I-797) then takes this form (I-693) to a USCIS-approved civil surgeon. He will conduct the examination and return the form to you in a sealed envelope. Keep the envelope sealed. DO NOT OPEN.
The I-693 will expired after one year, if you have not filed it with USCIS but it does not expire after filing, regardless of processing time.

Medicals do expire after 1 year I believe.

But, go ahead and get you I-693 done by an USCIS certified Civil Surgeon NOW.

That will save you time when you get the RFE for it.

Please read the USCIS policy dated January 3, 2007 @ http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrele...dExt010307.pdf
and this policy will be in effect until January 1, 2008.

            No no no. Stop waiting....

Go and get your medical done, they will send you a letter (RFE) requesting the medical envelope, you MUST respond to that letter sending the evidence (medical) as soon as you can otherwise, your case may be delayed... and you should get that RFE sooner than later.
