  • Need Help Bad

my mother died about two months ago before we were able to file the I-485 for myself. i just got the papers in the mail saying that I can now apply to adjust my status.

Question 1. will my mothers death make a difference when I file my I-485?

Question 2. Can my "grandparents"--who biologically are not my grandparents adopt me? And if so, will that help or hurt me when I file my I-485?

    thanks much in advance

Unless your dad is an US Citizen and could perhaps take over the I-130 from your mom, your petition is void.

Your grand parents must be US Citizens and they must adopt you before your 18th birthday.

my father was killed in 2001 and was never named on my birth certificate. if my approved I-130 is void then what if anything can I do?

There is nothing you can do. Your I-130 is void and therefore you can not file I-485.
