  • Case Stuck for 4.5 years

    Hi,

Any info/help on this would be appreciated.

In Aug/Sept 2003 we had our interview (I-485 was filed in late '99). Since then we haven't heard anything from the immigration office. After constant checks, they finally sent a short reply saying they're doing a background which could take days, months or years. It's been over 4 years since our interview. Is there anything that can be done to speed this up or get it resolved?

This situation sucks because without them clearing us, our application won't move forward. I'm a college student looking to get into grad school and this has shutdown a lot of opportunities for me due to lack of permanent resident status.

    Thanks

Namecheck with the FBI is one of the most discussed topics on immigration. You need to contact your spouse's local congressman, senator, the white house, file a WOM, anything to get it going... you are not going to get anything from immigration officers as it is the FBI who is in charge of clearing you.

      My experience...

      Hi,
My name had been pending with the FBI for almost a year. On November 19th I wrote to congressmen, senators (you can find their names and addresses on http://www.house.gov/writerep/ and http://www.senate.gov/general/contac...nators_cfm.cfm), FBI offices, Laura Bush, etc... total of 26 letters. On Dec 9th my name was cleared and my I-485 was approved. I always thought it was totally unrealistic to do this but now I am really glad I did. If you want I can email you the sample of the letter I sent.
      Good luck!

I actually tried with a congressman/senator a couple of years ago and he/she said they won't help as this was a national security issue..and also being from Pakistan doesn't help either..ahhhhh

our online status hasn't changed since 2002...this is really frustrating...I guess we're at this point only left with the option of WOM
