I filed my I-485 two months ago and I am now considering applying for a graduate program. I am wondering if I-485 can not be approved before the term starts next year, whether I can register as a student. Do I have to change to F-1 (that means I-485 may not be approved?)? Or can I start the full-time program while working part-time as a H-1B in the university. Or should I just hold on until passport stamped? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks
Thank you for the nice answer. My worry is that if I become a full time student, I may not be able to take a job. If an employment letter is asked at the interview or when I go to have my passport stamped, I may get into trouble. Please give me some more tips. Thank you.

my concern
Thank you 007. I heard that you need to work at least 30 h/wk to keep a H1B status, which means I can't register as a full time student. This is my concern. But maybe I can work part-time on EAD, which does not require a minimum work hour. Am I right? Please instruct. Thanks a lot.

FT and Work
You should continue working on H-1 as described in your labor application. If it is a full time job, you should do it. Making it part time will invalidate your H-1. If the H-1 was for aprt time job, you should work accordingly.
However, I don't see any relation between hours and study. You can work on H-1 full time, and join a college. In the US, if it is Master's program, most of colleges have evening classes. Even many county colleges have evening classes for working people. Unless you are joining a full time undergraduate course, you don't have to attend the college for the whole day.

yes
You can use your EAD anywhere for any type of job. So, there won't be any problem of attaching to the employer like H-1B and using EAD you can do a part time job, or a night job or just don't work and study day and night!
Note that once you use EAD, you will need AP to enter US if you are planning to travel abroad and (since H-1 will no longer be valid).
