when to send forms---please read

Hi there

*Does anyone know how important it is to send your adjustment of status forms off... minimum 45 days before visitor visa expires? *

(I came as a visitor married my husband, but as we didnt plan this we havent had the extra cash to send these forms of straight away. we are close to having the money but wondering if anyone KNEW when it is important to send the forms before visitor visa expires)

If you are married to an US citizen does not matter when you send the forms. Your out of status period will be forgiven.

that is true, if you overstay your visa you will be forgiven, BUT... that does not mean that ICE can not come knock at your door an put you in removal proceedings while you have not filed... so it would be best if you file at least 1 week before you fall out of status.

Oh thank you very much. I thought there was a time limit. I will definately send my forms before my visitor visa runs out feb 27.

Sorry i have 2 more questions (im sure ill have more)

1. When do i send my app for work permit? With I-485 or when i get the reciept..whats the quickest way?

2. I really dont understand when to do the medical exam thing? before i send I-485? After i send the forms? Anyone have any idea how much it costs?

You have to send all yor appls to chicago lock box

Send all forms together I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131, I-693, I-864, g-325a. All to the Chicago Lockbox.

You need to send the work permit, and the travel permit, at the same time, that will be faster.

You need to get the medical exam BEFORE you send the paperwork. The cost will depend on what needs to be done. Averages from $100-400. The USCIS civil surgeon you pick will fill out the I-693 and I-693 Supplemental form for you.
