  • SSN question

    Good morning & good afternoon
I entered the Us with my parents and I was then Issued a social security number (I needed health insurance) But I recently married to a USC and will reapply with him, will I receive a new SSN, or will it remain the same.
    Thanx everyone in advance!!

    it will remain the same.

if there are any restrictions on the card such as: "not valid for employment" or "valid for employment with DHS authorization". They need to be removed when you get your GC.

my card says not valid for emplyment, so what do I do exactly when I recieve my EAD card, do I go to the Social security office, and receive a card that removes the restrictions! Or do I have to wait for my green card?

If you plan to start working right away, then as soon as you get your EAD, go to the SSA office and apply for the condition to be changed to "valid for work with DHS authorization" (which in this case would be your EAD).

But, once you get your Green Card, you have to go back and get that message changed again... for it to say nothing... so unless you plan on working right away, wait until you get your GC.
