Is it normal to get interview appointment BEFORE getting work permit?

Hi.

I filed forms I-130, I-485 and I-765 all at the same time thru my wife who is a US citizen. I already went to have my biometrics taken and about a week after that I had got my interview appointment. However, I had not received my work permit yet and I thought that I was supposed to get the work permit before I got an interview appointment.

Do I have reason to be worried?

You should be glad, that they are processing your case fast enough.

I was interviewed first, and 1 week later I received my work permit.

That was my innitial reaction, but when I called my mother she was telling me than some of her friends have gotten the work permit before the interview, so that put a little doubt in my mind. But after talking to my lawyer and reading your response, I think my mind has been set at ease for now.

Man, I am so bummed right now. I just got a letter saying that "Due to unforesen circumstances" my interview was cancelled. I hope there is nothing wrong and it doesn't end up being later..

However, I did get a notice saying that my work permit card is being made, so bit of mixed feelings, haha.
