I (USC) am filing documents for my mother's green card. I am a student (read no income), have two young kids, and a husband who lost his job last May; although we have some assets (but not enough to be 5x). Our friend agreed to sponsor my mother. He is retired but has sizable investment income for himself and his wife (who still works). Is this going to work?
Do I fill out the afidavit and show all my assets that I hold with my husband (not enough), give them our tax returns and my husband fill out I-864A.
In addition does my friend fill out joint sponsor I-864 for my mother with tax returns (and what else)? Does his wife have to file I-864A if they file their tax return together? I'm totally confused.
    Thank you for your help.

More important than, how to file the paperwork and all... how do you plan on supporting your mother living with you? health expenses and all?

Both you and her co-sponsor must file an I-864 and provide the requested information.

Thank you for your concern. We have enough assets to live for at least a year or more and I will be done with nurisng school/board exam in the beginning of July and already have a job lined up starting in August or anytime I want to start. Hubby will get something also. My Mom has Medicare, income from Soc Sec (after my father died,) but not enough to meet poverty guidelines. (We are not using this income because it is not enough.)
      My specific question are:
1)If my (sponsor) assets are joint assets with my husband, does he need to fill out I-864A-agreement between household members.
2)If join sponsor has assets that produce income but some are held jointly with his wife plus his wife works, does his wife have to fill out I-864A for him/my mother.
Is Immigration going to question living on assets now till I get a job. Are they going to be worrying about her possibly using public assistance (never has).
      Thank you!
