Hello all,
I am US citizen since 2000 I married to women from Africa, we fill out our I 130 back in 1996 at Vermont office when I get my green card , we got the approved.
We moved from New York to Chicago, send the I 485 and get work permit for my wife the same day. wait for 9 months and we get our interview letter. We when for our interview on 07/11/02 the INS officer said he approved my wife green card but he cannot stamp her passport for her, because the are waiting for her I 130 from Vermont office and it can take up to 90 days, and asked my wife to gave him her passport with so when he get the I 130 he will stamp the passport and mail it to us, we left the passport with him.
My wife asked him that her work permit will be expire on 8/20/02. He said to save her $100 she should wait maybe she can get the passport before then, if not a week after the work permit expire she can go head and renew it.
The officer didn't give us his name.
IS this normal?
