I am helping a relative with tracking his GC process. He was able to apply back in middle of last year when the made that mess with I-485. He applied to the nebraska center and got a reciept notice but it does nto have a tracking number. Only an A number. He already got his finger prints done. A week ago he got a I-797C saying that his case was transferred to Nebraska (whihc is where we thought he had sent originally???) and that they will send him to interview notice. So i am really confused as what is going on with his case and how I can help him track it without a case number. Is that common to get a I-485 receipt notice with a tracking number. The i-140 is not approved either, and that one on line status says it was transfered to Texas. Is this part of some new process (I did mine more than 3 years ago and don't know if things have changed). Can some one please help me to understand what is going on in his case.
