  • Interview concern

    Hi.
I am in the process of AOS and have my interview on 04/14/2008. My wife is a USC and we have been married for over 7yrs. My wife came over to the US from the UK in May 07, I joined her in June 07, coming over on a Visa Waiver I-94W. We applied for AOS in August 07 for permanent resident. My concern is at the interview will I be asked about coming over on a Visa Waiver and then adjusting my status once I was over here, with my wife already in the US at the time? Or are they only interested in making sure our marriage is genuine?

    Your responce much appreciated...

    Tony.

There is always the possibility of them asking you about when you entered the USA. Whether you willingly entered under a non-immigrant program with a defined immigrant intent or not.

In most cases, the subject is never even mentioned. But there is no way of knowing for sure. You better be prepared though, and make sure you have a proper response.

          Interview

I had my interview today 04/14/08 at 10.00am at Kansas City MO. We were seen on time. The immigration officer was very nice and friendly throughout the interview. She asked to see photos and correspondence me and my wife have had over the years and any docs with joint names, such as bank accounts, car titles etc.

She asked how we met, and why we moved to the USA. That was about it and it lasted no more than 20 mins. After that she said the she is approving the AOS, and I should receive notification in a couple of weeks and the GC in 2 to 4 weeks.

She has to run the application to her supervisor first. She then handed me a letter about todays interview with the congratulations box checked.
