  • I-864-joint sponsor; temporary separation

I am applying for green card through marriage. I am currently in the U.S., but recently, my husband signed a 1-year contract to work abroad. He is not making enough money to support me, but I have a joint sponsor who can. Does my husband still need to submit I-864 as well, even though our joint sponsor has enough assets to support me on his own?
Also, is the time we're spending apart from each other going to affect our application process? (He is willing to travel back for the interview.)We got married a month ago, never lived together, but are planning to do so upon his return.
I appreciate any help, or suggestions. Thank you.

You can expect a VERY hard interview... if you have NEVER lived together with your husband and he will be gone for 1 year. You may want to postpone this GC process now and move with him abroad and then, once you two are ready to return to the USA, then file for GC again.
