Hi: my story is, i came to USA in June 2001 with a B1/B2 Visa and i been here since.i got married recently to a USC in October 2007.i filed my I-485 and I-765 in Novmber,i got the confirmation latter from USCIS in Decmber.then i was asked to send more documents about taxes and something concern the NSEERS.wich i didn't know what it was so i send the other documents with a copy of my egyptian passport for the NSEERS thing.then i did my biomertic in Jan 10th 2008.since then i didn't got and thing back. i called the USCIS many times, checked online and it was always the same{ your applications is still in process}.till 2 days ago,i got a notice from USCIS saying that { service's intent to deny your I-765 and I-485 under the INA}!! because my faliure to clearly established that i have been registered with NSEERS!! and they gave my an interview on April29 in chicago at the ICE office.guys i don't know what they gonna do at that interview, and i don't know what is the NSEERS,but if it was that big alien registration thing that they did a few years ago, wich i didn't do .i really appriciate if any one can tell me about the whole thing.thanks a lot

You are in a deep mess. You need to talk to a lawyer. Failure to register for NSEERS can have a huge negative impact.

Special Registration applies only to visa holders who want to enter the United States for a temporary period of time (such as tourists or students). People who have been approved to stay permanently in the United States do not have to complete Special Registration procedures at this time.

If you have been interviewed, fingerprinted, photographed and given a FINS number (usually written on your visa or I-94) by DHS, you are subject to Special Registration.

Special Registrants have the responsibility to learn, understand and comply with these procedures. Allowing sufficient time for this process is essential. Failure to comply jeopardizes your visa status, your ability to remain in the United States legally and can result in deportation as well as being barred future re-entry to the United States.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

Don't go alone to the interview. Take a lawyer and discuss your options. I believe, there aren't any.

I did not go also for NSEES

Iam from tunisia .I did'nt go also for that big alien registration(NSEES).
USCIS mailed to me a document in march 31 october 2008.Still ,I didn't receive't yet .May it is about interview like you.Because of this problem ,i did not receive yet the I-765(EAD).I apply for I-765 I-140 I-485 employment based in july 2007.IF this document is going to be an interview,i think i will have no choice,i will go,because failure to appear for the interview at the USCIS local office, will have more serious problem.(of course before that i will contact my lowyer ).A friend of mine also from tunisia is married to a USC since 2004,also did not go for the NSEES.USCIS did not give him EAD(I-765) .They just ask him for more evidences(passport copy and I-94 and an explanation). After tha USCIS send for him his green card I-485.
