Adjustment of Status through sister sponsoring

To Whom It May Concern:

I am an international student on f1 student visa. My sister is a U.S citizen, I want to know that if my sister wants to apply for me for family based green card and if I want to change my status with adjustment of status option without leaving U.S. will I able to adjust my status since I am on f-1 student visa? because someone told me that you cannot apply for adjustment of status as you came to U.S with the intention that you would leave U.S after your studies. And if I would apply for AOS and If it would get rejected would I still be able to study on my f1 student visa ?

You can apply for AOS even if you came to US on F1 visa. However, you can apply for AOS only if your priority date is current. And if your sister sponsors you, it will take at least 12-13 years before your priority date will be current and then you will be able to apply for AOS.

Therefore, you should find some other way to get greencard.
