  • AOS Interview

    Hi All,

I am married to a USC and everything has been going pretty smooth. We are scheduled to go for the AOS interview at the end of this week.

Here is the stuff we have as evidence, lease, utility bills, auto and home insurance, a few pictures taken with my family and some friends(he is enstranged from his family), health insurance cards with both our names, joint bank account.

Our concern though is that we do not have much evidence of our long relationship because he worked out of state most of the time. We never lived together when we dated and never accumulated evidence since we we never thought of this process during the time we were dating. Our Marriage certificate has the address I lived in before we got married because he moved in with me after we got married. We don't have old pictures for evidence of our courtship. We have never taken a trip or vacation together. Will this cause problems for us?

Also since he works away from home every fall, winter and spring, will his being away cause suspicion? He comes home for breaks but does not fly, he drives his car which has plenty of miles to prove the driving back and forth.

I guess I am just nervous because we don't know what to expect ... Any pointers would be highly appreciated.

    Here is my time line:

Be natural, can you try not to be nervous?
Dont overact because your situation is natural. Be sure to have all the required documents in both original and copies. SHow up on time and answer the question only as needed. Dont give long winded answers. Short and sweet. Make sure both of you are on the same page and have ID's with matching addresses. Bring your 2007 tax return with both of your names on it.
    Good luck tomorrow.
Can you post your result tomorrow as well?

      Interview Passes

Went for the interview. It was sweet short and straight to the point. It took exactly 10 minutes. The IO was really nice.. she swore us in, then asked for our ID's, asked me my full names, and him his full names. After that she looked through our file, said she did not need copies of anything except our 2007 tax returns because we had sent everything with our application.

She browsed through the tax return, asked me a bunch of random questions that are on the I-485 regarding terrorism, polygamy, genocide etc etc, then she went made copies of our ID's and came back and said the interview went well and she has approved my application and that I will receive the conditional GC in the mail in a couple weeks. She told us about removing conditions on the GC and told us to have a nice day.

It was a whole lot easier and simpler than I ever imagined.
