I-485 abandoned, how to file a motion

our parent's I485 applicaton was abandoned due to inadequate birth certificate. We provided their school's birth certificate. So now we have 33 days to file a motion. What should i put down as the reason? Does anyone have a sample letter? Do I need to go through a lawyer?

I am in the same situation as you. Mine got rejected due to missing Birth certificate. I went for AOS interview in 2006 and they want me produce original birth certifcate. I submitted the same within a week. They lost it somewhere and sent me a notice last week that my 485 got denied cause i did not submit the DOB within the timeframe. When i spoke to the Lawer, he said i could file a motion by myself with 33 days. I submitted a motion last week. You should get photo copies of all document and a proof before submitting.
