  • I-485/I-130: permanent vs mailing address

    Hi

I posted this on the family-based GC forum a few days ago, but haven't received any responses. Does anyone here know the answer to my question? Please help if you can!

I'm adjusting status from F1 after my marriage to a USC. Because we'll be travelling a lot, I'd like to have all the paperwork mailed to my friend's house rather than dealing with forwarding etc. My question is: some forms specify that you should put down a mailing address, so I've put down my friend's address (including c/o), but other forms don't.

Can I put down different addresses on different forms, or will be confusing/a problem to USCIS?

If I can put down only one address, which one should I put down on the I-130, the G325a, and the I-131? The I485 includes a space for a c/o, so I assume they mean the mailing address, and the I-864 does specify 'mailing address'.

    Thanks for any information!

USCIS mailing itslef is a confusing prcoess and any mail missed will cause unwanted issues. Rather than confuse them with many such addresses and you not knowing where they are mailing the documents, I would say mention one unique address that belongs to you.

Get a mailbox at the post office if you want all your mail to be saved. Don't confuse USCIS, it will lead to more confusion for you.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
