  • 485 / Married to US citizen for more than 2 years

Hello, yesterday I Fedex’ed my wife’s application for her green card. The full package. We've been married since 2005 and I saw few comments on this board regarding people getting green card without an interview and fast. Our case will be handled in Greer, SC. I'm a US citizen and my wife a legal person (immigration status) (F1 student). We submitted everything including supporting documentation like our US born 1-year son.

1- Is there any detail that will make our process faster than normal?
2- What are the criteria for someone get the green card fast and with no interview?
3- What's the current processing time for everything in our case in SC (fingerprint, EAD, etc).

Thank you in advance. I know how hard is the waiting time for every body. I would appreciate any input.

    Dates:

    - Jun/9/2008 -FEDEX next day 485 – 130 – 765 and 131
    - Jun/10/2008- Received today in Chicago

    Thanks

The cases that have been approved without an interview. Have been in the vast majority cases where there is substantial evidence of the marriage (married 5+ years, children together, etc) and/or the alien applying for a GC came to the USA through a K1 (fiancee) visa, which means he/she was already interviewed and tested on the bona fide status of the relationship.

Other than that, there is no reason why your case would be handled faster... what's the rush anyways? sit back and enjoy the adventure! Most cases take from 4-6 months.

Thanks for the answer. About the timeline. According to the USCIS timeline page the Greer office is handling cases from Juyl 2007 (updated on may, 15 2007). You mentioned 4-6 months. That is an average for all offices? Do you know any specific information about the office in Greer?

      Thank you again.

Do not believe in USCIS own timelines... they are messed up and not realistic. The national average is 6 months for AOS (i-485), so you should be fine.
