can i adjust M1 student visa to anything?

hi, what would my options be if i go to america and do a course on a student M1 visa? then waht could i do to remain?

could i change my visa status and remain in usa after the course?
get sponsored by an employer?
how about marriage?

or would i HAVE to return to my country after the course? no matter what....

what happens when an illegal immigrant eventually gets married, or eventually lands an employer willing to sponsor him/her? does the person just change visa status and own up, allowed to stay or punished and sent back/deported?
