  • Travel inside the US while I-485 is pending

I have NOA1 for I-130/I-485. I've been overstayed for 2 months after graduation. My driver license is expired but the F1 visa still valid. Can I travel inside the US by plane? Is it okay for me to do that while I-485 is pending? If yes, can I use the expired driver license to go thru the airline checking gate or I have to use my passport? Please help. Thanks a lot.

The ID has to be valid to be used at the airport. You can use your passport. Visa is of less significance for domestic travel.

Thank you. That's helpful. I just wonder when I use my passport to go thru the security gate, the security may kick me out of the country based on my overstaying. I feel relieve now. I am going to book the air ticket now. Again, thanks a lot.

Do you think it would affect me if I travel domestic ?

No, because you have a pending I485.

So, do I need to bring the NOA1s with me while I travel ? Thanks again.

                no,

actually, you dont need anything. i went to LA last summer, i just brought my passport and student ID. In fact, you just take a EDA card or passport(any countries' passport) you own.
