  • GC approved but Passport not stamped

    Hello,
I am a US Citizen and today my spouse had the Green Card interview. The officer approved her Green Card (told 2 to 3 times clearly) but did NOT stamp on her passport. He also mentioned that she will get an GC Approval notice (Welcome mail) in the mail within 1 week and get the actual physical Green Card in 2 weeks.

He said that if she needs to travel before the arrival of the Green Card, she can use her Advance Parole to enter USA.

He took her EAD and said that she will not be needing that anymore and was very pleased with all the documents what we submitted.

I would like to know if this is a normal occurrence where the Passport is NOT stamped.

Can somebody please respond? Not sure if this is right thread to ask...

Yes, they do this sometimes ...

... if you knew about stamping the passport, you could've told them right there and they would've done it for you.

That has also happened in the past.

Now, just wait for the documents.

    Good luck.

Thank you Knowledgeable. We asked him if he could stamp her passport, but he still said that we will receive the Welcome letter and the physical Green Card in 2 weeks.

      Thanks again for your response.

        Yup ...

... those guys do it sometimes. It happened to a couple of people I know. They informed the officer that they had to travel out of the country soon and would be better if their passport is stamped.

In one case, the applicant threatened to complain to the supervisor and things changed immediately.

The thing is if you're right, don't take anything lying down. You have your rights to complain to the highest authority if you feel you've been wronged.

It takes a whole lot of pain, time and resources to go to the USCIS offices and get things done.

Now for you the best would be to wait for sometime and see what's happening, else call them up.

        Good luck.
