Marriage Certificate Problem! HELP Pls....

Hi everyone,

I found this website very useful and thank you for all of you who give all answers so far. My situation is this: I'm married to a us citizen and ready to file the AOS. However, when I filed for the marriage license in California, I didnt realize to put my previous marriage into it (it was in my foreign country both marriage and divorce). My wife told me to get it corrected since I have my previous marriage and divorce records with the immigration. Then, I called the California Vital Record Office who handkes the amendment issue for the certificate. One of the officer told me that it will take up to 8-9 months to get the amended one!!!!!!! My question is: could I use the marriage certificate I have with me now with the letter of acknowledgment signed by both of us and also the notarized copy of the amendment form that we will file? I dont want to wait for another 8-9 months. Now I'm a student and almost graduate from the school. We need to make a living. Anyone have any ideas how to solve this issue? You are in a web Mr LOVEDELUXE....The boys in green have no way of knowing about your marital status unless you open your mouth....On the other hand you may wanna do it right just to avoid future problems, but opening your month means a longer process...You be the Judge

Do it the right way. Don't even consider lying or withholding information from the USCIS as the previous poster suggested.

(I an so tired of saying the same thing when foreign nationals seeking entry or permanent residency are advised to try to take a shortcut which could come back to hurt them in the future.)

Its wrong of Mr.C4US to suggest I am advising you to lie. Mr. C4US can be as tired as a dog about taking shortcuts but I am only giving you options based on your situation. That's where the deciding for yourself comes in.

Here's the situation, if a permanent resident of a naturalized citizen is found to have withheld any concrete information from USCIS, then USCIS or United States Department of State has the right to cancel the permanent residency or the naturalized citizenship immediately.

Now here's the catch, this above can be done anytime, repeat anytime in your lifetime.

Consider now if someone else knows about your "secret" and squeals to USCIS after the fact.

You do the math!
