Visa Extension for I-485

Received last week an approved petition for I-130 application for my mother. I'm asked to apply for I-485 (AOS). But my mom's visitor (tourist) visa will expire on Sept. 2. Will my application for I-485 automatically extend my mom's visa (stay) or do I need to apply for a visa extension and then submit the I-485?

Once you submit the I-485 application she is allowed to stay until the application is approved. Her I-94 expiration date does not matter anymore.

Thanks for the reply. I have one more question. Filing the I-485 application requires a medical examination but we may not have enough time to get the medical report in the next couple of weeks. Can I submit the I-485 first and the medical report later? Do they allow this?
