Thank you for this wonderful forum.

My wife and I submitted the following on April 4, 2008: I-130, I-485, I-864, G-325A, and I-693 along with supporting documents and fees.

Our application was received on April 7, biometrics on May 7, interview on August 7, and notice date on August 14 with Green Card approved. That is just a few days more than 4 months from the submission of documents to approval. This has been a very efficient process. Thank you for the information, tips, and wisdom shared in this website. We were able to reason through several areas of uncertainty due to the responses from several people on this site. Most notably, Praetorian provided clear information concerning questions asked.

We believe that the key to having an efficient process was in providing an organized application package and following instructions for each form to the letter.

Again, thanks a lot for the help.

This site is most undeniably a welcome relief in the nebulous maze of our 'alien' life. I have felt emotionally stable and calm (when it comes to immigration issues) since I became a member. Kudos to all those who pitch in.

I am curious if the OP had a lawyer's help or had done it by himself / herself.
I will be in the process of filing I-130 & I-485 pretty soon , and still wondering if the extra expense of a lawyer's help is necessary. I am a US citizen and met my wife while she had been going to school ( and still is ) as a foreign student .
Does having a lawyer really make much of a difference? If so how or in what ways?

My wife is a citizen and am on H1. We just sent our package and got back a reciept for I-130 and I-485. We are waiting for my biometrics appointment. We didn't hire a lawyer because they are expensive in general.
It just takes some researching and knowing what papers to send. Thanks to forums like Immihelp, **** ** and many others on the web.
Note that this is not a legal advice. Consult your immigration attorney for the best upto-date information.

Sent to the Chicago lockbox since it was by speed-post.
