I485 Pending - Moving to India in couple days- Need help asap

Hi,
I am in H1B. MY I485 is pending. My H1B is valid until Sep 2009. I had valid EAD and AP. I am moving to India in couple days. My attorney says that I have to withdraw my I485. Is that a mandatory one? Should I need to inform USCIS? My daughter's I485 is also pending. She is going to school in India. I think when we are out of US then I485 is abandoned. Is that correct?
If withdrawing I485 is mandatory then how should I do that? Any help is appreciated.

Is your intent to abandon the I485? Attorney is advising you to withdraw it as it may be useful to you in the future to apply for visitor visas etc. If not, your intent to immigrate on a permanent basis will work against you on such visas.
