  • Some questions filling form I-485

I am filling I-485 by myself and please help me!

    Q1
I got my I-140 approved.@Yes, I got I-797 approval notice. Is my A# is the number I see on the approval notice (under beneficiary)?

On I-485 Page 1 It is asking for A# Should I put this Beneficiary number?

    Q2
On page 2, it is asking Nonimmigrant Visa number. Where can I find that number. I got H-1B1 stamp on my passport but there are several numbers on it and I donft know which one I should use.

    Q3
    This if for G-325A
On first line, it is asking for File number (A-). Is this the A# I got on my I-797? Or should I leave it blank?

    Q4
At the end for G-325A, inside the Box, it is asking for (Alien Registration Number)
Again, is this the Beneficiary number from my I-797, I-140 approval notice?

If you know any other tips filing those forms, please let me know.

    Thank you!

Q1: You will get A# (Allien Reg No) only after filing I-485. As far as you have not applied for AOS before, you can keep this column blank.

Q2: Non immigrant visa number, I think, is the number referred as control number in the stamped visa, which is at top right corner.

    Q3, Q4 : I don't know about G-325A filing.

Alien number is the number in the I140 approval. Generally people leave it blank in G325A and 485 apps. Becoz, most of the times only one A# is assigned in the 140 approval, if you leave the field blank in these 2 applications, you and your dependents will get consecutive Alien numbers- which is convenient life long.
Even if you leave it blank, you (and your dependents) will get A#s in the 485 receipts.

Control no.on your Visa Stamp is NOT your non-immigrant visa no.

Non-immigrant visa no. is located at bottom right side of the stamp.
There you see four things: petitioner, petition no., petition date and VISA NO.
Hope you would be able to find it.
